Anna Zalewska – Member of the European Parliament
Polish politician, teacher and local government official. Member of the Sejm of the 6th, 7th and 8th term, in 2015–2019 Minister of National Education in the governments of Beata Szydło and Mateusz Morawiecki, Member of the European Parliament of the 9th and 10th term.
Anna Zalewska has been a Member of the European Parliament since 2019. Representing Poland, she works for national interests and is involved in issues related to climate policy, energy, education and industry. In her activities in the European Parliament, she strives to ensure that the regulations and provisions developed meet the needs of the Polish economy and are beneficial to Polish citizens.
Anna Zalewska served as Minister of National Education in the years 2015-2019, during the first term of the Law and Justice government. One of the key points of her activity was the introduction of a structural reform, which included the elimination of junior high schools and the return to an eight-year primary school and a four-year high school. This reform fulfilled PiS's election promise and aimed to strengthen the education system through greater stability of the education process.
In the years 2007-2019 she was a member of the Sejm of the Republic of Poland of the 6th, 7th and 8th term. During the 8th term, on November 16, 2015, she was appointed to the position of Minister of National Education.
